Eco school grounds work
In May 2022 the school was delighted to have been awarded £11,691.00 for the purpose of developing a pollinator garden, funded by the Department of the Environment and Rural Arrairs and Promoted by 'Live Here, Love Here'
This fantastic opportunity has allowed Knockavoe to focus on developing a pollinator garden and increase pollinator friendly land management techniques and help develop bio diversity. We have planted native trees, fruit tress , pollinating plants and erected a bird table to encourage wild life to return to our school environment. We are also creating an outdoor space for staff and pupil to enjoy whilst developing their knowledge of how to plant, grow and harvest our own vegetables. This will be of immense benefit to pupils in terms of developing their horticultural and environmental knowldge as well as raising awarness of the importance of redcuing our food miles whilst at the same time eating fresh locallygrown food.
Work has started in developing our vegetable garden and plants have been planted. Please keeping wtaching this page for more updates on the progress of our ground works
