Friends of Knockavoe

The Friends of Knockavoe is a registered charity whose objectives are to;

-Develop effective relationships with staff, parents and others associated with the school.

-Engage in activities and provide facilities & equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils

The Friends of Knockavoe Committee includes staff, parents and relatives of pupils, and other interested people from the local community.

Current officers on the committee are;

Chairperson- Majella O’Neill

Secretary- Kellie McGowan

Treasurer- Emma McGinn

Public Relations Officer- Gavin Lee



Friends of Knockavoe have contributed financially to the Rights Respecting Schools events in the past few years.

During the current academic year the Friends of Knockavoe aim to raise vital monies for the school through a range of activities.


In 2021/22 Friends of Knockavoe have fundraised to provide our pupils with an enormous list of fantastic events, equipment and activities:

  • Play equipment and toys for Class 7
  • A substantial donation to the Sunshine Room
  • Christmas treats for the whole school
  • Prizes for Recycling Day competition
  • Go Karts for Class 5
  • Contribution towards our Music Live Now workshops
  • Trampette for Senior Sensory 2
  • Funding for Sports Day 2022
  • Funding for bouncy castles, sweetie cones and an ice cream van for the whole school on the 2022 School Leavers Celebration Day.

Past contributions made by Friends of Knockavoe in recent years:

  • Educational & Sensory Toys for Class 5
  • Educational, Sensory and Motor Skills Toys for Class 3
  • Equipment to enhance provisions within the Butterfly Room
  • Play Therapy Sessions for the Butterfly Room
  • Sports Coach for senior pupils
  • Whole School Christmas Fun Day (including Santa Grotto, Gifts, Treats, Craft Tables, Inflatable Snow Globe, Bouncy Castle, Rodeo Reindeer, Cookie Decorating, Card Making, Photographer and Santa Insta-gram station)
  • Easter gifts for whole school
  • Subsidised half of the cost of Summer Scheme
  • Film Company Production for Class 7
  • Band for Senior Formal
  • ICT Equipment for Class 7
  • Sweet Tables for School Formal
  • Summer End of Year Celebrations (Disco and Treats)
  • Materials for Bright Futures Art Exhibition
  • Camera & Essentials for Glenside Suite
